only one of my 2 tracks is playing

Post by chtmpnlp » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:01 pm

I looked through the archives for about half an hour and couldn't find what I was looking for, so I figured I'd post up my problem. I recorded 2 separate tracks, then made one a left channel and one a right channel. When I first did this, it worked fine and I was able to hear both channels playing back, but now that I have re-opened the project, the right channel refuses to play. My Playback Meter only shows audio coming out of the left channel, and I have already checked for issues regarding mute, solo, and both tracks have visible audio on the waveform display. Any ideas?

P.S. running Windows Vista

It doesn't make much sense to me however in most ways Audacity Beta (currently v1.3.12) is more suitable for Vista. Audacity may have installed in the wrong compatibility mode. Try right-clicking over audacity.exe in Explorer > Properties and click the Compatibility tab. Try no compatibility or compatibility with Windows XP and restart the computer.

You can try 1.3.12 without uninstalling 1.2 - just install 1.3.12 to another directory. You can open the project created in 1.2 in 1.3.12 (OK the warning) but if you save that project in 1.3.12 you then won't be able to open it in 1.2.
