Duplicating files on hard drive to a memory stick

Post by herjer » Wed Jun 09, 2010 8:25 pm

I would like to: (1) make duplicates of my hard drive recordings to memory sticks; (2) create a file that I can send to someone who does NOT use Audacity; and (3) create a file that will be used when I transcribe, using Express Scribe. How do I do these things?

For 1 and 2, you could export from Audacity as an MP3

For item 3, what audio format does Express Scribe support?

1
drag and drop files to the memory stick
it should look like a disk drive

2
export as a wav or mp3
they can play it without audacity

3
wtf is express scribe
find out what type of file it uses
then export that file andor use a format converter program to achieve the file type you need

To duplicate a file from my hard drive to a memory stick, it has been suggested that I drop and drag the file to the memory stick. How do I do this? Please forgive my ignorance. This system is painfully new to me.

bring up two frames
one with the folder your file is in
the other with the memory stick location
click on the file you want
hold the clicker down
move the mouse to the memory stick
then release

to bring up two frames
first close anything else that is open so you see the desktop
click on each item you want
you may need to drill down to find them
if you dont keep them on your desktop
(best to put shortcut for anything you will need on the desktop)
click on each one
then right click on a bare spot on the task bar
select tile vertically
then you can see everything you need at once
then drag and drop to your hearts content

@whomper - here's another one for your list of really useful (free) applications:
xplorer2 lite http://www.zabkat.com/x2lite.htm
The pro (non-free) version is even better, but the free "lite" version is highly functional and useful for managing files. (one of my "must have" applications on Windows).
