I need a recording device?

Whenever I try to record audio streaming from the Internet, I get this error "Error while checking sound devices. Please check the Input device settings and the project sample rate." Also, the Input selection bar was greyed out and when I went to the Audio I/O page there was a playback but no recording device. Thanks for the help.

I occasionally get this message... and a reboot solves the problem.
Assuming you've tried that...
Do you mean that in the Audio I/O tab of preferences, when you look at options under Recording Device there's nothing available?
If so... look at your System Properties (right-click on my computer, or choose "System" in your control panel) and look at your Device Manager on the "Hardware" tab.
Under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers", do you see your soundcard listed there? Is there an yellow exclamation point?
Either way if your soundcard is there, right-click on it and select "Uninstall", then either re-boot or use the "Find New Hardware" wizard in your control panel. This should find your soundcard, and walk you through reinstalling the driver for it.
