Got a new computer with Win 7 64 bit. I had used Audacity on my old XP Pro system but not for a couple of years. I download the Audacity Beta and the Lame software. Everything loaded nicely. Took a little tweeking and several looks at the online help files but now I can report that it is recording streaming audio VERY well. It also work much better, overall, than the old version I had. I did not know that IMEEM had gone away to be replaced by MySpace. But that went pretty well and I think was better and faster than the old IMEEM site. I now have most of GaGa's tunes on my Sansa Fuse. Thanks Audacity!!!!! Now I need to upload some money to my PayPal account!
Oh yeah, on thing I particurarly like about the Beta version is how well it handles the amplitude. With the old version I had I had to continue twiddling with the setting to get good sound. Now, I do nothing and it's perfect! Listening to Bad Romance now.

Re: Win 7 exoerience
This morning when I started my computer there was loud popping/rattling noises coming out of my speakers. I was able to silence it by right clicking on the little speaker icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screan and muting the "Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio)". Audacity still works fine. What caused this noise? Didn't do it yesterday when I installted and tested Audacity.
Re: Win 7 exoerience
depends
ever since we got calbe
i get external noise into my pc and out the speakers when the volume is set too high (sometimes when not set high too!).
the cable company does something that makes the cable box buzz periodically and i can hear that in the pc speakers at lower volume settings. not sure if it is radiating rf or if it is coming in via the power line. but that is coming in from an external source.
so first check *all* your realtek settings
and make sure you dont have other programs running that can make noise (you would be surprised what some of them do).
if the problem is still there then turn the volume down
and consider adding some filtering to keep the noise from getting into the pc.
