converting to mp3

Post by luvurpom » Sat May 29, 2010 5:07 am

I am trying to copy audio cassettes into my computer. I am okay downloading the music into my computer and can play it back using the Audacity control panel. After that I am lost. I am trying to convert the file into mp3 and going crazy trying to do so. I have downloaded the lame decoder but when I click on convert to mp3 and enter a file name i keep getting the message saying it is an invalid file. Seems I`m doing something wrong somewhere along the line. Can someone give me a step by step once it is in my computer to get it converted to mp3 so that it will play on my Windows Media Player or on my Cyberlink DVD player. This is driving me crazy.

There are step by step instructions here: http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=inst ... m=lame-mp3

If you get stuck, please try and describe exactly what happens - the details are particularly important for this, so, for example, rather than saying "when I click on convert to mp3" say exactly what you are doing, such as "I click on the File menu, then click on the 'Export as MP3' menu ...."
