Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

damaged .aup file

Post by enginemusic » Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:13 pm

I accidentally overwrote an .aup file, and for some reason there's no .bak of it. The .au files all seem to be okay in the data directory. Is there an easy way to recreate the .aup file from the .au ones (bearing in mind there are almost 400 of them)?

<<<for some reason there's no .bak of it.>>>

There won't be a bak if you never saved a project multiple times. The AUP-BAK file is always one project version behind.

The cute little AU files aren't your whole project. It's the cute little AU files plus all your original capture clips and asset files and their original directory and folder structure. The coordination between all those billions of different files and folders (did you know the first two AU files were pictures?) is the XML programmed supervisory AUP file.

Without that file, the conductor of your orchestra has been tragically killed on Interstate 8 just west of Yuma--and he had the sheet music with him.

Cancel this request - I just found that when I played the file through, it started from the beginning, which was the part I needed. There was some extraneous stuff at the end of the file (my wife singing) and I thought I'd overwritten my precious engine sounds.
