Audacity (1.2.6) works perfectly for me when I play back a recording of music from a music notation program (Finale Notepad), as well as playing back any music recorded (via the headphone jack/port) from my electronic keyboard. In both cases the resulting sound is clear and there is no distortion. However, when I play back sounds (effects) recorded into Audacity from a software program from Native Instruments (such as Absynth or Kore Player) there is a horrible static/popping sound which the "Effects" file within Audacity can not eliminate. This distortion detracts from the NI sound, which sounds clear without any distortion while recording. Does anyone have an idea as to why this is occuring, and have any suggestions (other than my contacting NI for some info) as to how this "popping" sound could be eliminated? Thanks!

A couple of ideas;

You may be recording the sound too loud and getting distortion.
Your computer may not be fast enough to be able to play the NI instruments and record in Audacity simultaneously.

Thanks for the reply. I'm doing my "homework" on this issue, and have accessed the NI site for ideas as well, but, unfortunately, I'm still having this distortion, clipping, popping...issue. I'll probably end up not using those programs--even though intriguing-- in my music composition and/or recording endeavors.
