Audacity Forum

On my Toshiba Equium 50 laptop (XP Home) I have Audacity and also the BaxelData Cue Player Premium software for playing theatre sounds. Sounds always play correctly through Cue Player but sometimes (if I want to edit one using Audacity) the Audacity sound is unintelligible ("distortion" really doesn't say it!) - you can't recognise the sound at all. When I reboot it usually (but not always) resolves the issue. I've reinstalled both software packages and sound drivers (Realtek AC97) and even one time reformatted my Equium back to a clean install, but the problem persists. I've never had it on my desktop (so far, crossing fingers), so am clueless as to what to do. Any ideas anyone?
