I use a Zen personal recorder for such things as doctor visits. It records in a wav format. However, when trying to open or import files to Audacity, the graph shows solid overload and all I hear is very loud static.
I have been opening files in windows media player and recording 'what u hear' in Audacity, but would like to just open the file to edit.
Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure that you are recording in a supported format, for example MP3 or WAV and not WMA.

Yes, all the files transferred from the Zen have a 'wav' extension.

Are you copying the files onto your hard drive before you open them in Audacity? If not, try that.
