Volume goes up and down white recording stream

Post by soundmax » Mon Feb 11, 2008 4:52 pm

Everything works perfectly if I record line in from a source
like an old LP, but when I record from stream, i.e.: online
radio , it has troble with low levels - it seems to mute and
unmute which causes the volume to go up and down
automatically ?
Info : Wave or Stereo Mix, the machine an Athlon 2200,1G,500GHD,running XP SP2. Audacity 1.2.6
Anyone have any ideas ? Thanks for the help http://www.audacityteam.org/forum/posti ... =post&f=12#

Quite possibly a data bottleneck somewhere - what sort of stream are you trying to record? If it's Real Audio you could use "Realaudio-to-Wav Recorder" to capture the audio, then open the downloaded audio in Audacity for editing.
