Can this be done?

I have downloaded a youtube video and I have converted it to an MP3. The video is a tv show that is from the 1970's. I was trying to remove the speaking audio, as I just wanted the background/incidental music. I tried many different methods on audacity, but none of them worked. As far as I know the video is in mono and there are 2 tracks- one for the music and one for the spoken words. There are two tracks within the source video, because they just substitute the speaking parts in other languages for use in other countries, but leave the music intact. I did also convert to stereo on audacity and that did not work either.

Does anyone know if you can remove the spoken words, but keep the music intact for this sort of video? If so where can I find the steps needed to perform this?

thanks!!!! if anyone can help! :D

You can give this a shot if you want, but you have strikes one through four already. It's doesn't work very well on compressed YouTube videos. It doesn't work very well on MP3s, It doesn't work at all in mono, and if everything else is perfect, it doesn't work very well.
