Menu items unreadable

I just downloaded and installed Audacity onto my laptop (which is running XP Media Edition with SP2). The menu items all look funny, with question marks all over the place. The word "File" for example looks like "F??" and the word "New" looks like "N??".

I tried downloading the latest beta version as well, to see if that helped, but basically the same thing!

Any ideas on how to correct this?

I suspect that all you need to do is rest the Audacity language option to "English".

To change the language use: Edit>Preferences - Edit is the second command in from top left, then Preferences is the bottom selection in the drop-down list.

Then you need the Interface tab, which is the third one in from the right.

Language is selected from the only drop-down list in the dialogue box - use this to change to English.
