I have a problem exporting 'Multiple Files' after recording LP album tracks.

Am using Audacity v1.2.6 on to Windows XP with SP2.

The probelm arises after converting tracks to 33rpm, labelling tracks, saving changes and getting to the stage of exporting multiple files as per the instructions in the PDF manual. At the point, where Audacity begins to carry out the export, the whole system freezes and needs to be rebooted. I have tried this several times but every time the same thing happens. All I see is the timer window with the time expected to complete the task being calculated, then it freezes permanently. It then means having to reboot the whole laptop which takes forever to resolve any conflicts. I have tried re-installing the software, but this makes no difference.


Any solutions?

Are you sure that it is freezing rather than just taking a long time?

Try doing an "Export Multiple" with a short test file and just a couple of labels.

Nope, it's definitely frozen. I tried with only 4 tracks, which shouldn't take more than a few minutes but after 20 minutes of waiting I got a bit bored. Task Manager states that the programme is not responding and trying to cancel or come out of Audacity is not possible without quite radical action.

I was thinking more in terms of 10 seconds of audio

Just so as to rule out "operator error" as the cause, try following this tutorial, but just use a few second of audio so that you don't have to wait ages: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... ate_tracks

If Audacity still freezes you should be able to shut it down through the task manager (Alt+Ctrl+Del -> Task Manager -> Applications) which may avoid the hassle of re-booting.
