Sorry but not very technical and need help.

Have been recording stories and want to put in breaks every 10 minutes so when playing via USB I can stop and then find the place stopped on another occasion. Is this possible.

Create a label at your break point - place your cursor and use CTRL+B.

When playing in Audacity you can TAB from lable to label, provided focus is on the label and label track.

If you want to burn a CD with these beraks as CD tracks - just use Export Multiple to create a set of 44.1kHz 16-bit PCM stereo WAV files and use a CD burner to make a CD from the WAVs (note: you may want to use "gapless burning").

Labels can be added every 10 minutes using "Regular Interval Labels" from the Analyze menu.

Unfortunately when I select the Analyze Menu I do not have the choice of interval labels.

1.3.x had this added as a new feature - so to use regular interval labels you will need to upgrade to 1.3. You will benefit from this greatly as 1.3 has many improvements of the now ancient 1.2.

Thanks. I am trying to put breaks in a 45 minute recording. I wish to divide this into 2. I find it difficult to understand the first break and then the intervals thereafter. Sorry but I am totally useless in tis sort of thing.

If you only want to split into 2 parts, the easiest way is to zoom out so that you can see the entire waveform, then select the first half by clicking and dragging your mouse from the middle of the track to the beginning. You can then use "Export Selected" to export that half. To export the other half, press the Del key (which will delete the selected section) and then use "Export" in the normal way.
