windows 8 audacity 1.2

system was working fine then, the usb turnatble is no longer listed in devices followed instructions on web site and still no recovery system doesn't recognize the usb turntable no matter what i attempt to do

You mean Windows 7, right? You don't say exactly what instructions you read. Have you tried
these instructions on our USB turntables page, and all the other hints there like making sure the USB cable is tight, and/or replacing it?
Also if you are on Windows 7, you may get crashes pressing Stop in Audacity 1.2. If that happens, uninstall 1.2 and use the
1.3.12 Beta instead.
