Hello-
I don't have a "line-in" port on my laptop, so I purchased the MobilePre USB external sound card. Here is how I have my equipment hooked up:
[ ] Booth out of mixer (rca jacks) TO the 2 line-in channels of MobilePre (rca jacks + 1/4" adapters)
[ ] MobilePre USB TO USB port on laptop (duh)
I have a Tascam X-9 mixer, which does not have "record" out ports, that's why I have to use the booth out. The unbalanced (MASTER) ports of the mixer are hooked up to the auxilary ports on my stereo.
When playing back the mix, the recording levels sound fine, except theres a loud grounding noise too. I mix with CDJ's, so there shouldn't be a grounding problem.
I tried to use the "noise removal" effect on audacity, but it just decreases the overall volume of the mix. I explained this situation to a friend, and he said it sounds like i have too much equipment hooked up.
Any feedback would be appreciated. I am eager to record this mix I've been practicing!
Thanks!

Re: Grounding Noise - DJ Mix
Try disconnecting things one at a time to determine at what point in the signal chain the noise occurs.
If you disconnect the CDJ do you still get the hum?
If you disconnect the leads from the Mixer input(s)?
If you disconnect the Mixer Booth out?

Re: Grounding Noise - DJ Mix
i don't think anything is wrong with my connections, because i tried recording using a stereo y-cable...connecting the mixer to the stereo output of the mobilepre, and there was no grounding noise...but the recording wasn't in stereo.
do you think it could be my audio cord (double rca jacks)?...or the 1/4" connectors plugging into the mobilepre?...i wouldn't think so, because i bought all of these things brand new.
this is so frustrating...

Would you mind sharing "how" you've fixed it? It could be really useful for anyone else that has a similar issue.
