Many thanks - what I would like to do is continue my recording on a new track, without stopping.Irish wrote:Depends on what you mean by "on the fly"
Clicking the Record button or pressing "R" will start recording on a new track, but it will not work if you are already recording a track or playing back an already-recorded track.

When recording a newspaper for blind listeners, it would be convenient to commence a new track at the end of an article, without closing the first, so that the readers keep "the flow".kozikowski wrote:Even if you do get that to work, depending on settings, Audacity will try to play your old track while you're recording the new one.
Why do you need this? There may be another way around it.

Very many thanks with your suggestions. I'm off to try them out.kozikowski wrote:Can't you do that with Labels? I thought there was a hotkey you could use to put labels into a performance during capture. Then you can Export according to the labels and get a performance with "chapter markers" as well as a continuous performance if nobody hits stop.

Use CTRL+M to mark the current playing/recording positionkozikowski wrote: ... I thought there was a hotkey you could use to put labels into a performance during capture.
