Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Voice change project -caution *Epic noob*

Post by wanflove » Wed May 05, 2010 3:48 am

I have a science teacher famous for his mean and seemingly endless lectures, and i decided to "autotune" it, if you have seen t-pain "autotune" obama (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITT6bYYGVfM), then you would know what i am talking about.

I actually tried to 'autotune' with gsnap and wavosaur, but that just snapped my voices' pitch to the nearest correct pitch.
there was a midi option on gsnap.. but the manual wasn't really clear on the whole thing so..

anyways.

My goal, is to somehow make my teacher's lecture sound like music (preferably me being able to control the pitch, almost like a talkbox) and I have NO CLUE how to get there.

How do I get there?

My budget= $0

Thank you very very much to whoever answers!!

You can't do it with Audacity. You need a music program that works with audio, VST plugins and MIDI. (Audacity does not support playing MIDI).
There's a tutorial here (more accurate than most of the tutorials on this subject) using FL Studio (the process will be very similar in other VST/Midi programs).

<<<there was a midi option on gsnap.>>>

Maybe it didn't make sense because you were expecting an audio program. MIDI isn't audio. MIDI control is a way to get a computer to press musical keyboard keys. That's all it does. If you want to record the music that the keyboard makes, then you have to run additional cables and record the music as a separate event.

Not quite free, but excellent fully functional free demo, fair licensing terms and low cost for personal use - Reaper.
