Audacity 1.3.4 just stopped displaying

I've been using version 1.3.4 successfully for months when all of the sudden yesterday afternoon it stopped displaying.

Here's what I mean: the application loads, it shows up as running in Windows Task Manager, shows up when you Alt Tab, but i can't get to it.

i didn't download or install any software yesterday that could be causing a conflict.

I downloaded the older version and it works perfectly, the problem being it can't recognize 1.3.4 files.

Any ideas?
