Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Recording without saving

I want to use Audacity strictly as a playthrough device, to put microphone input onto the line out connector by enabling the Software Playthrough option. I don't want or need to record the data. Is there a way to run Audacity as if it was recording, but have no actual data saved to disk?

There are a number of ways to do that depending on what the actual job is. Any reason you're not using a cheap Radio Shack PA amplifier?

The reason I say that is Software Playthrough is almost always late late, resulting resulting in in echoes echoes.
