Splitting without "hearing" the "breaks"

I'm having some long recording, that i need to split.
I'm using Audacity for quite a long time in order to split the recordings.
I choose a quite part and then break the file.
But, when hearing the audio file (with all tracks) in the stereo i'm hearing the "breaks" !! it's quite annoying.

Can i hear the whole lecture without hearing those breaks ?
I've heard other audio disks (of lectures) and the move between lectures is smooth .

I'm assuming you're thinking of the "pops" that tend to occur with a clean select and cut, right? I get around this by zooming in to the cut ends and selecting the last/first couple of frames. I then fade them in/out. That tends to do the trick, though sometimes you'll need to fade more than a couple frames.

Not exactly
I still want to hear the full lecture with the breaks
But i may need to change my view for "frames view", because maybe i'm cutting the lecture in the middle of a frame, and that's why i hear the "hums" between tracks.
Is there such an option ?

I'm quite new to Audacity, so ignore me if I'm flat off base.

If you have already tracked the files, and you hear a slight space b/w tracks, you may be hearing sector boundary errors (SBE's). Programs like Exact Audio Copy (EAC) have functions that detect and remove these quickly and painlessly.

You can "snap to frames" in Audacity 1.3.4
Also, when you write to CD, write "Disk At Once" (DAO) not "Track At Once" (TAO).

How do i "Snap to frames" ?
Do you mean i'll be able to "Cut" only at the end of a frame, so the "break" won't be heard ?
Didn't find it in the menus ..

BTW: i hear the "breaks" also when using my iAudio mp3 player, so it's not a matter of burning options (but 10x anyway).

jossi-t,

it sounds like your MP3 player is putting the breaks there for you. iPods do this too, but on those there is a setting for "gapless playing" - my guess is that if you read your manual your MP3 player will have something similar.

In Audacity 1.3.4
Look in the "Selection" toolbar and set the format to CDDA frames.
Select the "Snap To" tick box.
