Trouble X-ferrg tapes to Audacity

Post by Rickenbacker » Mon Apr 26, 2010 7:57 pm

I know how to set it all up to do the actual recordings, but the trouble I'm having is after I get the audio into Audacity.

The recordings are of live shows & are all roughly 90 - 120 mins. long. By the time I'm done, playback via Audacity is sooo choppy& I give up.

What can be my problem here? Thanks for any help!

Choppy is usually the computer not being able to keep up. How full is your hard drive and have you ever defragmented it?

Defrag
-- Right Click Start > Explore > Right Click Local Drive C: > Properties (Used, Remaining)
-- Tools > Error Checking & Defragmentation

Never let the drive get over 90% full. Some use less, like 80%. At 90%, you're already in doo-doo (technical term).

Which Windows?

Thanks for the speedy reply, Koz. I realized that I'd been running it via my external HD. Not my laptop's. (which has 32.5 GB free space vs. the external's 6.32)

I'll give it try thru the laptop & see how it goes & return if I have further problems...
