hi
i have been using a 4 track tape recorder for some time, and have been using it to transfer some old recorded tapes into audacity via a Behringer U-control UCA 222
the problem is when i record a stereo track, and i pan the tape player from left to right, the signal audacity records is still the same in both the left and right tracks,
i have tried removing one of the rca leads to the UCA22 and while monitering with headphones one speaker drops out as i would expect but audacity keeps recording on both the left and right tracks,
i have searched many forums and tried to change settings but cant seem to fix the problem, i would really like to know what i am doing wrong,
thanks

Re: stereo recording not recording true stereo tacks
Which version of Windows are you using?
Vista and Win 7 have a setting in the Control Panel to set recording to 1 channel (mono) or 2 channels (stereo).
If you are using Vista or Win 7 you should upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12. http://audacityteam.org/download/
