I cannot access my mp3 files. Whenever I click import audio, I'll click a file and then I get this error message:

Can’t open file ‘C:/SERAFI~1/AppData/Local/Temp/audacity/b00081.au’ (error 2: the system cannot find the file specified)

What is going on? I am not the administrator on my computer, and my files are shared...anyone know how to fix this?
would appreciate it greatly.

Exactly which file are you clicking on? Are you sure it's an MP3 file that you are trying to import?

That error message looks more like you are trying to open an Audacity Project.

Where are your files shared? Are they on a local drive (in the computer that you are using) or on a network drive?

Audacity will not work well (if at all) on network drives as the access speed is too slow.

That and Ethernet Collision Management. Digital conversations or packets on a network are designed to accidentally bang into each other. There were early network systems that weren't designed to bang into each other and you can read about them in history books.

That doesn't necessarily happen often with a 1m piece of CAT5 cable, but when one of your drives is in another part of the building or even another country, it's really easy to get the timing wrong.

The system just picks itself up off the floor, slaps the dust from its coat and tries again. No harm done, except there's the Audacity Project in the dustbin. Audacity doesn't like sudden holes in the data. It sees holes as bad drives or other serious damage. Audacity is a really simple program and it likes running on really simple computers.
