Hello, I am wondering about the current state of crashes during long recordings.
I experienced a crash while recording a long live event. The crash occurred after about 2 hours. I was able to recover my recording, but lost the end of the performance.
The OS was Vista. The hardware was an Edirol UA-25 with the latest drivers. I had plenty of disk space (80G), plenty of ram (4G), and a fast processor (dual 2.2G).
From posts, I see that many people have experienced similar problems. I am surprised if Audacity is still unstable.
Is Audacity known to be unstable for long recordings, or should I blame Vista or the Edirol drivers?
If Audacity is unstable, is it understood why Audacity crashes? Are the developers working on it? Has it been fixed in 1.3? Is Audacity more stable on Linux or the Mac? Should I use a different tool for recording?
Thanks in advance
Peter
