I need cactus sound effect

I'm having trouble of making a cactus sound effect when it gets cut off by the ufo ship. I would also like your opinion on how I can improve the sound effects applied on this video. Feel free to improve the sound effects but do let me know the techniques you used

I don't think that I'd try to purely synthesise the sound. I'd probably start with a recording - you could either go for something "realistic" like chopping a marrow/melon/cucumber with a carving knife (you would need a sensitive microphone, a very quiet room and have the microphone close to the thing that you are chopping), or you could go for a more comical "abstract" sound effect such as blowing a raspberry or a squeak.
