Config file location
Does anyone know where Audacity stores some type of config file that recognizes that it has run before and has your settings (do not have to select language or tell it where lame is)? I need to know what file it is because it is installed on a shared computer that several users log into and I have to make the file copy into their profile when it is created on that computer so they do not have to go through the setup everytime.

Re: Config file location
In 1.2.6 it is stored in the Windows Registry. For Macs and for all users in 1.3 (and the upcoming 1.4) there is a confifiguration file stored in the user record.
So I think that you therefore have a problem achieving what you need with 1.2

Re: Config file location
Sorry I can't help you with the Registry stuff - I never go there muyself - too much Dark Magic for me !
Actually 1.3 is pretty stable now (in spite of the dire "Unstable" warning). I now use it all the time with no problems - but my uses are limited to LP/tape digitization and restoration - and use of the timed recording feature. But over several months 1.3 has given me no problems. I believe that 1.4 the stable release which will supercede 1.3 may be available by mid 2008. The developers are working hard to close out the the 1.3 releases - and the 1.4 manual is in preparation.
Be aware that you can have 1.2 and 1.3 installed on the same PC - just don't try to run both at the same time. You can open 1.2 projects in 1.2 (you will get a warning but they normally open ok) - but just be very aware that once a project has been opened and saved in 1.3 or created in 1.3 it can NEVER be re-opened in 1.2 (so you may want to keep a 1.2 backup if you transition a project).
