I have used Audacity successfully for many years until recently when I bought a caasette player which plugs into my USB for copying tapes to my pc. I now find that when I copy music either from music already stored on my pc or from the radio or indeed anything via the pc soundcard that I get an echo. I have un-installed Audacity and re-installed it several times to no avail - can anyone tell me the reason for this echoing I'm geting when recording , please.

Audacity generally doesn't do things like that. That's usually a Windows setting.

Open up Windows Control Panels...

And make sure you're recording from just your desired source, not Mix-Out, What-U-Hear, or Stereo-Mix. Also make sure the built-in microphone isn't running by accident.
