Poor Quality Recordings

Post by jsime » Tue Mar 30, 2010 12:41 pm

I have just managed to make my first recording, and have been able to play it back and also convert it to MP3 and import it to iTunes, however I am very dissapointed with the sound quality. I have tried the noise reduction which does not seem to improve matters much with the slider over to the left. With the slider moved over to the right the the song is almost unrecognisable. There seem to be too much noise / distortion. I am a novice at this so it is hard to explain why the song sounds so bad but it just seems too loud with no clear definition of the various voices and instruments. It all seems too loud and fuzzy. Do I just need to keep trying with different levels of noise reduction or are there other editing tools that I can use to improve the sound of the recording. I am also going to try to buy a new stylus in case the original one has ben damaged somehow - do you think this would help?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

We will need a little bit more to go on;

What type of turntable and computer are you using, and how are they connected? Model numbers will help.
