Zooming out without my telling it to

I'm trying to mix two tracks together and in doing so I need to change the tempo on one of them. I zoom in to the portion I want to alter and after applying the effect the project zooms out completely all by itself and I have no idea why. It happens moreso when decreasing tempo than increasing and also happens when generating silence. Does anyone have any idea on why it keeps doing this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Reaching way back into my memory...I think Audacity 1.2.x just does that. Try installing version 1.3.x. You can have both versions on your machine, but only use one at a time.
