how do you correct the latency problem in audacity 1.2.6?

There are three annoying delays associated with sound production. Latency can be "tuned out" by using the tools in Audacity 1.3.11. The other two, live monitoring delay, and duration of show errors are bolted into the computer and cannot be changed.

Latency correction in Audacity 1.2.6 is not adjustable. Adjustable latency correction was added in Audacity 1.3.x
