Thanks EVERYONE, for all your help and advice. I'm not abandoning the encryption break. It's just not something I really need or want to do right now (not a priority).

This task, i found, is really daunting, very boring and should be automated. I'm not a programmer but I'm willing to learn if anyone wishes to teach. I can and do pick up these kinds of things fast. Here's my task:

Download (insert number of CDs) CD Audio book.
Import and combine each chapter of the audio book into segments 1 CD in length (batch).
Combine 2-3 CD length audio batches into one Part, 2-3 in another part and so on.
Export to mp3 or other audio format.

Downloading (ripping) the audio books is a manual task, thats a given. I don't think this should be a script too complicated because most of the software is already written (Audacity). It's the automated instructions that would have to be written. But what do I know!? Any Ideas?

Additionally, to the webmasters,

Good work (absolutely no sarcasm) for the spam blocking of the IP address I was on when I initially wanted to post this message. It's good that IP users police the net and establish a community-fair set of rules for communications. I was at a Holiday Inn in North Carolina.
The size of the hammer is directly proportional to the size of the task.

Have a read of this topic: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 20&t=27938 (particularly the first couple of posts).
Does that idea sound like it would help with your project? If so, add your comments to that topic.

There are no guarantees that any particular feature request will be taken up by the developers, but we (Audacity users) can discuss our ideas about how to make Audacity better, and the results of these discussions are then transferred to the Audacity wiki Feature Request page. Some of these ideas are then taken up by one or more developers, and if they work and are useful they are included in future versions of Audacity.

Your list says that the post does not exist. Was it removed?

Suggestions on the "Adding Features to Audacity" board are removed after about a month after the last post to the topic and the salient points are transferred to the "Feature Request" section of the Audacity wiki ( http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Feature_Requests ).

Everybody wants their specific task automated.

The development team has to figure out how to spend their time to provide the best set of functionality to serve the most users.

they just cannot provide a unique tailored audacity for every person
