Creating cell phone ringtones

As a newbie to Audacity, I'd like to create few ringtones. My wife thinks it is creazy to spend 3 bucks for a 30 second ringtone when you can purchase an mp3 for 89-99 cents

So, I want to use some of her favorite cd's and surprise her.
Has anybody done this? Her cell phone has a usb port to connect to pc.
