Hey,
I've been to improve my audio quality on my dj mix for the past couple weeks. I've hooked up my mixer to my pc properly (i think) but i can't change the input to a "line in" so I think it's just recording microphone quality? I'm not sure but I'm sure it's something small that I'm doing wrong. Please help! lol thanks

another thing:
I read on another post that if your pc doesn't have a line in jack then your only other option is an external sound card. I've tried selecting the sound card on the device option but when i record theres no feedback. THe sound card is an audio dj 4 (traktor scratch)

This Wiki article is about USB TTs - but moost of the material will apply to your USB soundcard (USB TTs are effectively TTs with an embedded phono-preamp and USB soundcard).

Hey.. I posted this a while ago and read that article but I still can't quite get the sound quality to improve at all. In that link it said to select USB audio CODEC I believe as the recording device but thats not a choice. My choices for devices are as follows: Microsoft Sound Mapper- Input, Audio DJ 4 Line In (It says that twice), and microphone (Conexant High Definition). When I select the Audio DJ 4 as the device I get no feedback and when I select the sound mapper I get the usual low quality feedback. Anybody have any ideas on what my problem could be? Any input at all would be very helpful.. thanks a lot

What do you mean by "no feedback"? Do you get the sound recorded in Audacity?

By no feedback I mean nothing is being recorded. In waveform its just a flat line

My guess is that the reason that the Audio DJ 4 is listed twice is because the sound card drivers are as two stereo pairs rather than one 4 channel device. You may have the wrong instance selected for the inputs that you are using.

hmm ok I'll check that out but for recording device I should chose the sound card and not Microsoft Sound Mapper right?

You could use Microsoft Sound Mapper, but what that does is to set Audacity to use the system settings, which means that you would need to go into the Windows Control Panel and set the "Sounds and Audio Devices" to use the correct recording device. It's probably going to be easier to set the inputs directly in Audacity.
