Poor quality recording
Hi, I am trying to get a good recording on 1.3.11 version. It crackles, clicks & faulters no matter what I do. I have a XP with the Realtech sound s/w.
Re: Poor quality recording
What are you trying to record from? Microphone? Turntable? Sounds playing on your computer?
What equipment are you using and how is it connected? More detail is always better.

Re: Poor quality recording
Yes right. So I am plugging my guitar into my Line6 amp, then from the record out into the Mic jack of my computer.
Re: Poor quality recording
The Mic jack is designed to take a tiny mono signal from a microphone, and you are feeding it a signal 1000 times bigger from the amp.
If you have a desktop machine, there should be a line-in jack which will take the signal from the amp. However, if you are on a laptop which doesn't have a line-in jack, the only option is an external sound card.
See this thread for reviews of sound cards which are known to work well with Audacity.
