How to shorten my music??

Post by sophiaberry » Thu Jan 24, 2008 1:00 pm

Hello Everyone:

I am new to all of this. I downloaded the software fine however, all I want to do is shorten a song to add to my website. I opened up the song however when I try to play the music it only plays a blip of the song. What am I doing wrong and how to I edit the song??

Thanks.

It may be a protected file. If you try and open protected iTunes files, for example, it's just a <1 second blip of nothing. What's the extension?

You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support . Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC in 1.3.

If this is the case you have two basic options:

1. find and use some converter software to convert your file to a type that Audacity supports

2. play the file in any music software that supports that particular file format and record it in Audacity.
