Strictly Amateur......have dowloaded Audacity and have it working (XP Home) and starting to understand it.....would appreciate help in connecting to R 16......downloaded drivers but cant follow further instructions.....Thanks..

This device is a controller or control surface for a Digital Audio Workstation and unless you already have a DAW (you'll know because of the amount of money it cost), that part isn't going to do anything.

It's very difficult to get Audacity to record multi-track live -- particularly if the device uses ASIO software which many good audio devices do. Audacity doesn't directly support ASIO.

So that leaves transferring files from the SD memory card. That you can probably do. Does the device mount in Windows via USB so you can see the memory card, or do you have to take the card out and put it in a memory card reader on the computer?

dont!

record on the r16 first
drag and drop a wav file to the pc
then open that file with audacity

faster easier better cheaper than trying to go direct from mike to audacity via r16

Koz & Whomper Thank you both for reply.......Straight and simple answers.....have been transferring files to Audacity and experimenting....will now read more of the instructions....will try card reader,but just as easy to put card in pc....has capacity for several types of cards.......Thanks again...mardy
