Recording in the same track

Hello All.

I can't imagine this hasn't been asked before, but I've read all the helps, other resources and searched this board and can't find it.

I use Audacity for song writing. I simply want to keep a single track as a workpad that records all my ideas as I go along. But when I stop and restart recording, Audacity automatically creates a new track for the new material. So in order to continuee work on what I've done beofre, i have to go to the end, record the new stuff and combine the tracks. This is a laborious process, since I have to repeat it every time I record new stuff. Is there a way to resume continue recording in the same track without creating a new one?

Thanks.

You can't do this in 1.2 - you will need to upgrade to the Beta 1.3 if you want to do this.

In i.3 there is a new Appende Record function - the best way t9o activate it is via the keyboard short-cut SHIFT+R or SHIFT+Record

The Beta is actually pretty stable by now - and in fact is often more stable than the officially labelled "stable 1.2" on many modern computers.

You can get 1.3 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
