I want to have the option to record sound that comes off my PC. When I go to Sound and Disabled devices, the "Stereo Mix" or "What u Hear" isnt there.
I remembered that I had to download a DLL of some sort and leave it on system32 if I remember correct. I have been browsing the web for hours to get this to work, also this forum. Please help, I have Windows Vista Ultimate with Custom Gaming PC running on a Dell mother board.

Three things have to happen for Stereo-Mix to be there; the right sound card, the right driver software and the permission of the operating system. If the moons and stars don't perfectly line up, there is no Mix-Out.
You can use one of the software packages like Total Recorder, or, if you're on a deskside machine, strap the Line-In to the Line-Out with a stereo jumper cable and try to record that way. This doesn't work on a laptop.

I have 2 PCs with XP - one will record straming audio the other won't.
However I can browbeat the one that won't into doing it by using my external USB soundcard and looping back its outputs to its inputs, See this page for external soundcards thear we know work with Audacity: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477
