Splitting vocal Tracks from instrumental Tracks

Hey Audacity forum,

As you might have noticed, this is my first post, so if this isn't the right place to put this thread, please feel free to move the thread, Moderators.

Alright, I have a song, and I wish to edit it. I want to split the vocals from the instruments. I know how to remove the vocals, I just don't know how to split them. What I'm trying to do here is create two (or more) tracks, which are two diffrent things: the instruments and the vocals. This way I could toy around with them both seperately to change the song a little. If it's possible, it would be even more helpful if you could tell me how to split each of the instruments to a seperate track, but that's all unnecesairy if impossible.

Thanks for all your help,
Shrooblord

That's called Vocal Isolation. Some of these tools claim to be able to do that.

--Extra Boy

It's not easy. The job most people present is exactly the job most likely to fail. It doesn't work on a mono show and it doesn't work well on a highly compressed sound file. Internet clips tend to be both.

There's hope if you are the performer and you have the original Stereo WAV capture sound files.

You can assume you can't split a mixed performance up into individual instruments including voices.

Okay, thanks. That's a pity to hear.
Thanks for helping though!
