My mom bought me that USB turntable and it's peaking the signal and there's no way to adjust it! It's stupid.
I had one of my machines do that -- recently. It was startling. The recording was technically perfect in every way, but the playback was terrifically overloaded and distorted. Export As WAV so you have a perfect copy of the show, Save As Project, too, just in case, and restart Audacity.
