the problem is that i have had audacity working on my computer before but i have recently added some vst's and a few stand alone computer effects programs. now when i go to open audacity, i get nothing. the computer just thinks about it for a second and then apparently forgets about it because nothing happens. great technical analysis right?

i've tried uninstalling audacity then reinstalling but that didn't help.i use cubase sx 3 (previously pt 7.4) to record then normalize and convert to mp3 in audacity.

i was just wondering if there are any known conflicts between audacity and other programs that would cause this.

Yes there are.
Audacity does not support all VST effects and some VST effects can prevent Audacity from opening.
How to get round the problem depends on exactly which version of Audacity you are using. For the exact version number, look in the "Audacity help menu > About Audacity"
