Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Hi all,

New user here, My friends told me to take a peak at this software that is was one of the better ones out there.

had a quick question (don't worry I will ask my friends most of them) I have a video file (.mt2s format Sony) and i am trying to import it so that i can try and clean up the sound and whenever i do i get static ... any ideas why?

Audacity has a small number of different types of files it knows about but they're all sound files, not video. Audacity 1.3 is better at this with more different types, but still audio only.

If you have a simple editor or converter program, you can make a WAV file from the movie and then try the cleaning tools in Audacity. You'll need the editor again to fold the new music back into the movie when you're done.

Sometimes the manufacturers sell a much more powerful editor that has its own sound tools.
