I have a dell XT2 tablet with XP pro SP2 and for some reason I cant get stereo mix so I can record from the web and not use mic(digital mic or jack mic) , I am not a computer guy so all I can do is ask for help.
Under Sound Card which is on device manager I found the following
Audio Codecs
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Medio control devices
Video Codec
Is the second one MY AUDIO CARD, what do I need to do in order for this AUDIO card to be able to use stereo mix so I can record, PLease help gurus
Thanks a bunch in advance.

dell ?!
is there an orange speaker with sound waves in the lower right tray
click on it
and see the realtek control panel
go to mixer
set the volumes to mac
unmute stereo mix
mute anything else you dont want to use at the same time
move the volume to max
exit
then right click on it the next time
go to volume ocntrol
unmute all
max volumes all
repeat
go to sound recorder
drill down and make sure it hasnt undone anything
repeat
check the others
sound manager is the same as left click
then set what you want in audacity
be sure to pick stereo mix
put volume to max
run a test and
lower if you get clipping

you may not have realtek - be thankful - my dell desktop has it
or it may have used a grey icon this time
try the grey one and see where it leads you to options to fix
click
and
then repeat with right click
and drill down to verify all settings
and then do audacity
stereo mix seems to be the magic setting to get that to work
for most people
also try
start/settings/controlpanel/
sound...
and
system
and check the settings there too for audio items

W.
The iconI meant was the volume one, that is the only thing that looks like a sound Icon.
My computer isa latitude xt2 tablet, no matter how low I go, I only findthis IDT High codec thing, no other option or choice to pick up from,do you think I need a later driver than the one on the machine, is from 2008?
This is crazy, audacity only pick up the following
jack mic
digital mic
line in
rec.playback
I dont know where else to look for this stereo mix or wave in, do you have any other ideas that might help me on this
Thanks a bunch
