Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
I just set up a brand new system.
I installed my M-Audio Delta 1010LT card, and it appears to be functioning correctly.
I then installed Audacity 1.2.6
The Delta card doesn't show up in the dropdown box to choose as an input.
Help anyone??
Thanks
Chris

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
ok... update.
I now realize I need to choose the card in preferences.
When I do so -- no matter what selection I make -- after restarting Audacity, the input dropdown box is greyed out.

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
ok... another update.
I'm able to get *some* functionality
I'm not sure what I did to fix things. I fulled around the the m-audio interface... but didn't change anything.
Anyway, the dropdown box is still greyed out, but if in preferences I select 2 channels, I can record a stereo track.
If I choose any more than 2 channels, I get an error message "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate."
Any ideas?

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
When you mention the input drop-down menu, you also need to tell us which one. Most people can't use the input menu on Audacity's main page anymore due to a change in the way companies are writing audio drivers.
You have to select your input in the edit -> preferences -> audio i/o menu. Learn to use the [ctrl]+p keyboard shortcut.
The Delta 1010LT has a number of different inputs (as long as you've installed the drivers correctly). I see the following:
Mon. Mixer - aka "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear"
Multi - up to 8 analog inputs
1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 - All the analog inputs, acting as stereo pairs. When one of these is selected, you can only record up to 2 channels (stereo).
S/PDIF - digital input.
'Multi' is the only input that lets you select more than 2 channels. For instance, if you select Multi and then select 5 channels, you will record channels 1-5, there is no way to pick and choose each channel individually. As far as I can tell, there is also no way to use the analog and digital inputs at the same time.
If you're not seeing those inputs, then you have not installed the card or drivers correctly. Or you're using different drivers than I am, mine are the second most recent (I just noticed they released new drivers, I'll upgrade later today).

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
I see all those choices.
However, even when choosing the "multi", I get the error message I mentioned above when selecting more than 2 inputs.
I'll be interested in knowing your experiences with the new driver.
I've had the card for close to 2 years, but just got around to building a new workstation and installing it this past week.
Because of the lapsed time, I didn't even install what came on the CD with it... I just downloaded the latest from m-audio's site.
The screens I see on the monitor/mixer software, now don't match the docuementation. (though similar functionality)

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
So Multi doesn't give you more than 2 inputs? Hm...
I'm at work now, so I won't be able to test the new drivers until tonight. I'll post back once I have.

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
Cool... thanks.
I can always "choose" more than 2 channels, no matter what Device I select... it just gives me an error when I try and record.
I haven't actually hooked an actual source up to the inputs yet to know if things are really working. I'll do that later today.

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
ok... I've got my machine hooked up in my jam/practice room.
I've got three MXL990 condenser mics and an MXL992 pencil condenser into a behringer 1202 mixer, mixed down to 2 channels.
That's coming into inputs 3 & 4 on the card, and everything works great recording in two channel.
I still can't select more than 2 channels in Preferences without getting "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." however.

Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
To be a bit more explicit, this error means that your sound card driver is not providing enough channels. Either some of the channels are disabled in the m-audio software (it's not possible to do this with my drivers, the new ones might be different), or the new m-audio drivers are doing something wrong.I still can't select more than 2 channels in Preferences without getting "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." however.
I'm still at work, but I'll test this later tonight.
If you want to try it right now, I think there's an option to "show older releases" when you go to the M-Audio driver download page. Look for the release that was current as of 6 months ago, that's the one I'm using at home.
Re: Can't see M-Audio Delta 1010LT
I just tested it and you're right. The newest drivers have a non-working "Multi" input and are missing the Mon. Mix. input which (I believe) records all the outputs mixed down to stereo, aka the speaker output.
These new drivers are a big step backwards in terms of hardware surround sound setup, as well, though I've never used more than 2 speakers with my M-audio card.
I've reverted back to driver version 5.10.00.5057. I suggest you find that driver by clicking the "show old drivers" button on M-audio's website. This version of the drivers works as I've described it in my posts above.
I'm emailing M-Audio to let them know of the cock-up. I'll report back if they respond to me.
