Hi All,
After editing a wav file and shrinking the size from 18 secs to 14 secs ... then I export the file as wav.
When I play it with windows media ... the file is now 28 secs with 14 secs of dead "air" at the end.

This was not happening before ... but now all the audio files, I create has this problem.

Why is this happening and how can I prevent/solve this problem?

Any help will be appreciated.

Richie

This is probably happening due to an Audacity bug.

If you convert the sample rate of a file to something different during output, Audacity adds silence to the end of the file. If you want to convert several files, I suggest using r8brain, it's freeware for windows that will do easily sample rate conversion. So do your editing in Audacity, then export to the same sample rate as the original material. Then use r8brain to convert the sample rates.
