Audacity doesn't open =(

My audacity just crashes when i try to open it. it just says something like "audicity doesn't work anymore" (the standard windows message, i don't know what it is exactly in english, i have the dutch version). I use windows Vista, and i tried reinstalling. i've used it for a while on Vista without any problems though, and i have used it for a long time on XP without any problems either. I hope anyone can help me with this...

Oh yes, and if anyone knows how i can reduce the input on my line-in with vista, that would be very helpful too. XP just had a normal volumecontrol, but Vista doesn't have that or something...
