I really really need help with the LAME mp3 encoder. I installed it and everything worked. But when I played the .mp3 file itself (on iTunes, Windows Movie Player) there was no audio at all. Please help me ASAP. It's for an important project :(

PS I have Vista and I used the 1.3.11 Beta

Can you import the MP3 file into Audacity and play it?
Do you still have the original (before you exported to MP3)?

Audacity must be in STOP mode (not play, record or pause) and you must have some audio selected.
To change the language in Audacity 1.2.6, press Ctrl+P, then select the 6th tab. Click on the drop down menu and select English. You may need to restart Audacity for the change to take effect.

I have the same problem with version 1.2. I downloaded Lame, recognized it for the first recording, made the MP3, and sent it to my self, and there is no sound! I have Windows XP, and it was playing in Media Player, and you can see it playing, but no sound. Also, the file showed up on my desktop, without asking where I wanted to save it. I'm not a techy person, so please explain in very layman terms what I need to do....also, I'm a voice over artist, and need this ASAP...thanks so much!

Hi KathyV. Perhaps one of these tutorials will help you to get started: http://audacityteam.org/manual-1.2/tutorials.html

If you are recording with a USB microphone on a Windows computer, Windows switches playback from you soundcard and tries to play back through your microphone
To re-enable playback through the sound card you may have to enable it through the Windows Control Panel.

Thanks for your suggestions...after going through trying to fix it...I ended up in the volume window, and the volume had been all the way off for wave. I didn't know if this would affect MP3, but I turned it up....AND NOW IT WORKS! Thank you so much!
