VU Meters

I've just used Audacity for the first time, but inadvertently deleted the VU meters. How do I get them back? I can't see anything in the "Help" section to tell me.

from the menu bar: "Edit->Preferences->Interface"
Select which items you want.

You know you can change the size of the meters by grabbing the lower right corner of the Audacity work panel and pushing it around? The meters resize themselves and there are positions where the meters are very large. If you get the panel really narrow, the meters default to a second line under the control buttons.
