Thx for the response, Is it recommended to keep the tags on the file or remove them? I know from experience that wav tags can be pretty annoying, especially if you work with several programs.
By the way, the 1.3.11 crashes every now and then, it mainly happens when I have a 16 bit PCM file and when I zoom in on the very last bit , press on the 'go to end' button ( looking like >>| )
Is exporting WAV files lossless?

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Is exporting WAV files lossless?
You need to get that down to something we can all break. How long is the WAV file? What are your Audacity settings?
Can you get any of these WAV files to do it?

...or a sample from somewhere else.

Re: Is exporting WAV files lossless?
~8 minute tracks, all settings default, no dither and the option in the import tab which is safer.
I couldn't reproduce the problem, but then again it doesn't always happen
found another bug:
Usually when I save a file, and have extensions on (not hidden), and when the complete filename would be report.docx, pic.jpg, and in the save screen I would enter report or pic, it automatically adds the extension, based on the field below (save as type). But in audacity it gives an error message saying pcm files are usually saved as wav.. even when I hide the extensions!(so it wants me to save as music.wav.wav or something? weird.)

Re: Is exporting WAV files lossless?
That sounds rather similar to bug number 9 (on Bugzilla http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9 )jawohlol wrote:the 1.3.11 crashes every now and then, it mainly happens when I have a 16 bit PCM file and when I zoom in on the very last bit , press on the 'go to end' button ( looking like >>| )
A method to reproduce this problem at will would be extremely useful - so far no-one has been able to make it happen and without that it's virtually impossible to trace.
Make sure that you are not using any other dots "." in the file name (other than ".wav")jawohlol wrote:in audacity it gives an error message saying pcm files are usually saved as wav.. even when I hide the extensions!
If I type the file name as "steve.the.fiddle", then Audacity will complain (because "fiddle" is not the usual extension for a WAV file)
It will be happy with "steve.the.fiddle.wav"
